Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this research is to investigate how the family environment into which an individual is born is related to the individual's self-development. Our research aims to examine the Family Climate and Self-Construal of individuals aged 18 and over living in Istanbul in the context of intergenerational relations. The research was conducted with the quantitative survey method, and personal information forms, family climate scale and autonomous-relational self scale were used for 400 people, 200 of whom were women. Research data were evaluated by applying T Test, One-way ANOVA test, Pearson Correlation test and Regression test using SPSS 20 program. As a result of our research; It has been found that family climate affects personality self-construal. Moreover; It has been observed that the self-construal of women and married individuals in all sub-dimensions is related to the family climate into which the individual was born. In addition, it was found that intergenerational authority and cognitive harmony, as well as autonomous self and autonomous-relational self development sub-dimensions, differed across generations. It has been observed that Generation Z is ahead of other generations in developing Autonomous and Autonomous-Relational self. According to the educational status of the individual; It has been observed that as the education level increases, the averages of family relatedness, autonomous self and autonomous-relational self also increase.
