Abstract (EN)
Pumice is used for various purposes in different sectors. Bitlis is Turkey's most prosperous province concerning pumice reserves. Since it is light and porous, the pumice is commonly used in the production of bimsblocs as wall material. The lightness of the wall material reduces the load of the building. In this study, bimsblocks produced from pumice obtained in Bitlis province and used as wall material were used. The bimsblocks used are 19*19*39cm in size. However, the mechanical strength of the bimsblocks produced from pumice is deficient. In this study, steel fiber additives were used to increase the mechanical strength of bimsblocks. 2%, 3%, 5% and 7% of the samples were obtained using steel fiber additive. Physical and mechanical properties of each sample were determined for control samples and steel fiber usage in different proportions. Size and tolerance analysis for all samples, configuration and appearance analysis, unit volume mass analysis, mechanical (pressure) Strength Analysis, water absorption coefficient analysis under capillary effect, water absorption analysis, thermal conductivity, water vapour diffusion coefficient and fire resistance values were measured. The results were compared with the sample results obtained as steel fiber. The aim of this thesis is to enable the development of the mechanical properties of bimsblocks produced from low-strength pumice to be widely used. Reinforcement of filling wall material made of pumice constitutes the essence of the study. Instead of strengthening the walls, strengthening the wall material is one of the objectives of the study. In the study, mechanical and physical properties of bimsblocks produced in Bitlis province were identified. It was determined that the steel fibers used in the study increase the compressive strengths of bimsblocks.
