The relationships between the learning strategies used in biology lesson and the achievement motivation

This research aims to determine whether there is a significant relationship between the learning strategies used in biology lesson and the achievement motivation, and to make suggestions to improve using effective learning strategies in biology lessons and students? achievement motivation in line with findings of the research. The ideas of first graders at the high schools in Konak, zmir were made use of in this general survey-type research 583 first graders from different types of high schools participated in the research. ?Learning Strategies Scale? and ?Achievement Motivation Scale? were employed to collect the data. The learning strategies used in biology lesson were determined through ??Learning Strategies Scale? and the ideas of students about achievement motivation were determined through ?Achievement Motivation Scale?. The evaluation of the research findings points out that; the students? opinions of the learning strategies used in biology lesson are at the ?agree? level and the achievement motivation is at the ?suitable? level. According to students? gender, the type of high schools, biology achievement marks, support from out of school or not, mothers? and fathers? education situation and families? finances; there are meaningful differences in students? answers to the scales. But there isn?t any change about student opinions in terms of the biology teachers? gender. And also, there is a positive correlation between the students? opinions about the learning strategies used in biology lesson and the students? opinions about the achievement motivation
