Evaluation of blockchain technology within the framework of Banking and Finance Law

Digitalization and digital transformation concepts which is one of results of developing technology have affected many countries and sectors today. However, banking and finance sector is the most affected sector by the digitalization and digital transformation concepts. The ways in which the financial companies in the sector provide services and the ways in which the consumers served by these companies receive services in parallel include both less cost and more speed with digitalization. New regulations have been realized within the scope of financial law as a necessity in return for new financial services arising within the framework of digitalization. During the evaluation of the blockchain technology within the framework of banking and financial law which is the subject of our thesis, the concepts that are important in blockchain terminology will be explained first, then the effects of blockchain technology on the practices and legal systems in the finance sectors in different countries will be compared with examples, and finally the effects of blockchain technology on the Turkish banking and finance sector and the legal system will be discussed. The most important reasons for the selection of the thesis subject of evaluation of blockchain technology within the framework of banking and finance law are the fact that the subject is being started to discuss in various circles yet and the number of scientific studies on the subject is quite low.
