Evaluation of renal transplant waiting list patients in terms of anxiety and depression

Purpose: The aim of this research is to compare anxiety and depression ratios in normal population and patients who are on reanal trasnplant waiting list. Materials and Methods: The patients in this research were obtained from Şişli Florance Nightingale hospital renal transplant waiting list and the control group were those who had no any chronic illness and visited the policlinic.In this research case group were 19-74 age group (mean 47.2±12.4) which were registered for renal transplant waiting list 68 married ,32 single a total of 100 people (52 women, 48 men).The control group were 18-74 age group (mean 46.4±13.0) 61 married, 39 single 100 people (50 women, 50 men) who had no any chronic illness. The statistical analysis fort the datas were obtained using SPSS for Windows 22.0 program. Distribution of variables were calculated using kolmogorov simirnov test. Kruskal-wallis, mann whitney u test and independent samples t test were used in analysis of quantitative datas. Qualitative datas were calculated using chisquare test and when chi-square conditions were not provided fishcer test was used. For correlation analysis pearson and spearman correlation analysis were used. Findings: Smoking ratio was significantly lower in case group than control group.Alcohol consuming rate was significantly lower in case group then control group. Beck depression, state and trait anxiety scale scores were significantly higher in case group than control group. Beck depression, state and trait anxiety scale scores were significantly higher in women than men. Case group patients with other chronic illnesses had higer beck depression, state and trait anxiety scale scores than patients who don't have other chronic illnesses Conclusion: Findings are calculated in 95% confidence interval and %5 significance level Keywords: Renal transplant waiting list, anxiety, depression
