The effect of boxers' self-confidence on their problemsolving skills

This research is a descriptive study conducted to examine the relationship between selfconfidence levels and problem-solving skills, self-confidence levels and problem-solving skills of boxers who continue their active boxing life in different age categories. In the study, the differences of the students in terms of demographic variables were examined. The study was applied on a voluntary basis on a total of 240 boxers, 201 men and 39 women, who continue their active boxing lives throughout TURKEY in the 2019-2020 academic year. In order to collect the data of the research, in addition to the 8-question personal information form prepared by the researchers to determine the personal information and distribution of the participants, the 33-item Self-Confidence Scale developed by (Akın, 2007) and the Turkish adaptation made by Şahin, Şahin and Heppner (1993). Problem Solving Inventory (PSI) was used. SPSS 22.0 program was used for data analysis. As a result, the self-confidence levels of the boxers in the research group in terms of the education variable were found to be significant in favor of the athletes with postgraduate education. In terms of sports age, the self-confidence levels of those who do sports for 14 years and above were found to be higher than boxers who did sports for 3 years or less. In problem solving skills, it was determined that as the weight increased, the problem solving skills of the boxers increased. It is thought that the problem solving skills of the athletes who do not have weight loss problems increase. In addition, it is seen that as the self-confidence levels of the participants increase, their problem-solving skills also increase. Therefore, it is seen that the self-confidence levels of the athletes positively affect their problem-solving skills. It can be said that dealing with problems is an important factor in the development of problem solving skills of children in the developmental age.
