Being in the context of regional power Turkey's political relations with Lebanon

In the first chapter of this study, the concept of power, mainstream international relations theories have been discussed in the axis of realism, İdealism and Marxism and then the regionalism of power were emphasized. In the regional power analysis, the features required for a country to be prepotent or dominant in its existed location were elucidated. These features were addressed in the axis of population, gross domestic product (GDP), production structure, foreign trade, savings and capital accumulation, foreign capital, technological developments, and R & D, foreign policy, diplomacy, and geopolitics. At the beginning of the second chapter, basic information about Lebanon such as; information about the country geography, state, society, population, transport structure and economic access of the country were given. Afterward, the connections between Turks and Lebanese which have been developing since history were examined. Starting from the Umayyad period to the analysis of their relationship with the Ottomans before the Republican period was assessed with the follow-up of the evaluation of the correlation between Lebanon and Turkey after the declaration of Lebanon independence, within the Middle East context. In this section, relations with Ismet Inonu period and then with Adnan Menderes period were analyzed. The Baghdad Pact was additionally emphasized in this section, due to the intensification of the two independent countries until 1958, triggered by the involvement of Turkey in the Baghdad Pact.
