The irretrievable breakdown of the marriage union as a ground for divorce

The most common legal reason for divorcing is the irretrievable breakdown of the marriage union Turkish legal system. In this study the issues such as divorcement, reasons for divorcing and legal basis for divorcement were examined. Some other concepts such as divorce, marriage union and irretrievable breakdown of the marriage union also were analysed. The irretrievable breakdown of the marriage union, which is the primary concern of this thesis, was examined in details, under the contexts of current causes of breakdown, relevant legislation, and especially the doctrine and the case law. The procedural law and the measures which are adopted as consequences of such cases were examined considering the fact that they have a significant impact on children especially.
