The relationship between cognitive distortions with self-esteem of adolescents who are grown in divorced family

Özet (EN)

The aim of this research is to study by comparing whether adolescents who are grown in divorced family are the relation between cognitive distortions and self-esteem, and whether with some determined variables are different. Sample is composed of 155 students who their parents have divorced. The instruments of collenting data: Daily Behaviours- Scale, Automatic Thoughts Questionnaire, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Personal Information Form. Data have been analyzed via correlation, ?t? and Tukey Test and Oneway Analyze (F). Findings: It has been determined a meaningful relation between self-esteem and cognitive distortions for adolescents grown in divorced family. The more sensitive to criticism, depressive affect, dreaming increase in adolescents, the more cognitive distortions increase; but when their self-esteem increase, their cognitive distortions decrease It has been determined a meaningful difference between cognitive distortions and selfesteem of adolescents with success; having been shown respect to rights; having been got adolescent?s opinion; making decision with together members of family; having stepsister; wishing for parent to come together; not becoming confused to their life of their close environment; feeling angry and guilty themselves because of divorcement; feeling sad themselves. Those who have been successful, have been shown respect to their rights, have been got their opinion, have been made decision together with the members of the family about the topics concerned with family, had to leave from their brother, have not became confused to their life of close environment have higher self-esteem; but they have less depressive affect, phychological isolation. Those who have been asked for parent to come together have higher self-concept continuity; but they have lower sensitive to criticism, psychosomatic symptoms. Those who feel themselves angry and guilty have higher self-esteem, self-concept continuity than those who do not feel them; when they feel themselves such this kind affects, their depressive affect is lower. The adolescents who feel themselves sad, than those who are not able to trust, have higher self-esteem, self-concept continuity; have less feeling of threat interactions, psychosomatic symptoms.
