Abstract (EN)

Aim and Objective: Contrast madia inducede nephropathy (CIN) is the third most common cause of acute renal failure (ARF) among patients who are admitted to hospital and who have risk factors. Thanks to the advances in CIN imaging techniques, these systems have gained in importance over the last decade. CIN can be prevented if simple measures are taken earlier, and those patients having risk are evaluated better. In this study, we tried to assess whwether we could use urinary cytokines known as renal scar markers in theearly diagnosis of CINMaterial and Method: A total of 85 patients who were admitted to the Clinik of Internal Diseases, medical Fatulty, Dicle University, and whose compuliterized Tomography was taken, were included into the study. Urinary cytokines of the patientes were checked before and after administering contrast matterFindings: The diagnosis of CIN was made by taking 0,5 mg/dl of increase İn serum kreatinin level as criteria in 10 patients. As a result of the study, a statistically significant increase was found before and after procedure in urinary cytokines, such as IL?1, IL?6 and IL?8, which can earily be worked out in urine (p:0.013, 0.000, 0.020Conclusion: Since CIN is a preventable cause of ARF, its early diadnosis can hinder a probable major ARF development. Accordingly, urinary cytokines can be used for early diagnosis. However, there is need for a more comprehensive study in which langer and more homogenuous patients groups are involvedKey words : CIN, Urinary cytokines
