Abstract (EN)

The science of geography has also been in contact with other branches of science whose subject is human. So much so that this relationship has been presented to the readers by being processed in many literary works in the field of literature. Constructed various plots of events; It is possible to come across geographical elements in almost every line while reading the novels that present them in a certain time and place. Because of the space; The fact that the characters are confronted as the main determinant in many areas such as physiology, behavior and culture further reveals the importance of geography and space. The subject of this study is the geographical analysis of Buket Uzuner's novels in terms of literary geography. Many writers who lived in similar geography; The way he uses geographical terms in his works, the quality and quantity of geographical concepts vary. The space created by the author; The reflections on the characters or the choice of the place suitable for the characteristics of the character he fictionalized are related to the geographical knowledge and perspective he has. In this study, analyzes will be made in order to determine human and physical geographical terms in Buket Uzuner's books named The Adventures of Incompatible Defne Kaman Water, Soil, Air. Then, the connection of these terms with the sub-branches of geography will be formed and the data obtained will be grouped and geographical data tables will be created. The analyzes and maps of the places in the novels will be created and their effects on the characters and plot will be analyzed and concretized with Datawrapper software. In addition, an interview on geography was held with Buket Uzuner, the author of the books. As a result of this study, the author, who dealt with social, environmental and cultural problems from a real point of view, used mostly the terms of physical geography in the books; While he preferred these terms as the geographical element with a real meaning, he applied very few ways of expression such as metaphor and idiom. Considering the cast of characters in the author's books, it is seen that mostly female characters are chosen from educated women who are strong, far from the stereotypes imposed by the society. Finally, it is seen that the places chosen by the author are mainly from the Asian continent, and the cities of Istanbul, Çorum and Kayseri are preferred as the main places of the books.
