Structural characteristics of family-type cattle facilities in the district of Burdur/Bucak and estrous detection criteria

Abstract (EN)

In this study, the structural characteristics of the dairy farm in Bucak district of Burdur province were investigated. In this context, 71 cattle breeding businesses were visited. The data of 1022 artificial insemination applied to 454 animals were taken and evaluated. The methods of estrous detection and their relationship feeding, owners education and season were also investigated. Of the breeders surveyed in the study, 8.8% were uneducated, 46.7% were primary school graduates, 28% were middle school graduates and 16.5% were high school graduates. The breeders, identify the rutting season of the cattles when they enter the barn for feed to their cattles and they do they have not get any time this procedure. Breeders use a methods to determine the period of rutting, mucoid discharge, record keeping, leap or allow the leap, decrease in milk, loss of appetite, edema in the vulva and hyperemia in the vulva mucosa, increased interest in environmental factors. In this region, the average age of animals used for breeding is 45.34 (months). Races of inseminated animals are Holstein, Simmental, and Simental Crosbreed. The number of animals per average barn is 10.42. It has been determined that straw and pellets are the most used feed sources this region. It was determined that the rutting symptoms appeared most often with these animal feeds.
