One of the most important effects of global climate change is drought. On the way from the past to the present, water resources may decrease significantly during drought and even face the threat of extinction. In this context, Burdur Lake sub-basin is an above-ground water source that faces drying out as a result of the threat of drought. Since dry conditions develop for different reasons; It has more than one definition such as meteorological drought, hydrological drought and agricultural drought For meteorological drought, which is the type of drought taken as a basis in this study; A current drought assessment has been made by analyzing the drought effects of 2019 and 2020, which are 2 of the 3 hottest years on our planet, in the Burdur lake sub-basin.For the 24-month period (1 January 2019 – 31 December 2020) data for 2019 and 2020; belonging to 7 stations located in the lower basin of Burdur Lake; PNI (percentage of normal index), De Martonne drought index, temperature and precipitation analyzes were made using daily precipitation data and monthly totals, normals for the 30-year period (1990-2020), monthly average temperature and monthly total precipitation data. The total precipitation average in 2019 is 377.94 mm, and the average temperature is 13.58o C. The total precipitation average for 2020 is 379 mm, and the average temperature is calculated as 13,6o C. De Martonne annual drought index values for 2019 and 2020 are between semi-arid to humid in both years. In the 3 months (October, November and December) PNI drought indexes of 2019 and 2020, meteorological drought occurred in the sub-basin during this 3-month period. Each drought indices found were mapped with ArcMap, detailed monthly and annually. It was concluded that De Martonne method is more suitable for Burdur lake sub-basin than PNI method.
