Tourist satisfaction, destination satisfaction and the importance-performance analysis of tour guide towards archeo tourism areas in Burdur province

Burdur province, situated in the Mediterranean region of Türkiye, is distinguished by its archaeological heritage and natural beauty. The aim of the study is to assess the satisfaction of travelers who visit Burdur province, as well as the perceived importance and performance of tourist guides. The research employed the survey technique, which is a quantitative research procedure. The data were collected from 449 visitors who visited the Museum of Natural History and Archaeology, the Ancient City of Kibyra, and the Ancient City of Sagalassos in Burdur province using the convenience sampling procedure. The data were subjected to mean, correlation and difference (t-test, ANOVA) analyses using the SPSS 22.0 program and significance-performance alysis using the excel. As a result, the satisfaction of tourists visiting Burdur with their destination (x̄ 3.77), tourist satisfaction (x̄ 3.73) and tourist guide satisfaction with their performance (x̄ 3,73), were high.. The research has revealed a positive correlation between the importance and performance of tourist guides, tourism satisfaction, and destination satisfaction. The service provision of tourist guides for the Burdur archeo-tourism destination has been determined to focus on features that should be protected, features that should be concentrated on, and features that should be given minimal priority. The study identified disparities between gender, marital status, age, education, monthly income, number of visits, work status, participation in archeo-tourism, and research variables (tourist satisfaction, destination satisfaction, tourist guide significance, and performance). Furthermore, the presentation focused on the development of archeo-tourism in Burdur province and provided stakeholders with recommendations.
