Determination of feed and milk quality characteristics in dairy cattle establishments in Bursa region

There were differences between the districts and farm sizes in terms of nutritional components in raw milk samples. It was found that non-fat dry matter and protein values in raw milk samples were in accordance with the food safety standards of raw milk, however, the raw milk fat ratios were below the standards except for the small enterprises. Tank milk total bacteria count (TBC) and somatic cell count (CCC) were found higher than that of food safety standards, except for large enterprises. Metabolic energy, crude oil, crude protein values in the feeds used in large farms were found higher than that of others. However, the crude ash and crude cellulose values in the feeds used in large farms were found lower than in other farms. The dry matter, crude oil, crude protein, and Metabolic Energy values of the enterprises in Karacabey were found higher and crude cellulose values were lower than that of the other districts. ADF and NDF values of large-scale enterprises and enterprises in Karacabey were found at the recommended levels for optimum efficiency, but, ADL values were lower than other district and enterprise sizes.
