Abstract (EN)

Some research about the motivation in the job place showed that low motivation had some negative effects on the company. The research, started with the studies of Hawthorne, indicated the fact that the employee having low motivation would not only be less productive, but also, he would have low performance. With the coming research about the same subject, it was aimed to determine what the factors of employee motivation were. The results showed that one of the most significant factors on employee motivation was how the manager behaves in his/her relations with the subordinates. Also, how the manager?s relation with his/her subordinates is determined by the kind of leadership the manager have. This thesis aims at exploring the effect of manager?s leadership styles on subordinates? motivation. To this aim, high school managers? leadership styles and the motivation levels of their subordinates? are investigated and the effect of the leadership styles of the managers on the motivation level of the teachers is examined. According to the results, it is revealed that school manager?s leadership styles had significant effect on teachers? motivation level.
