Özet (EN)

In the proficiency in art thesis titled "The Reproduction of the Body in Contemporary Art in the Context of the Passive Subject", the concept of the passive subject is addressed in order to express the passive form of the body image based on social, political, and cultural relations. This concept is evaluated through the "Panopticon" model/metaphor, shaped by the institutions where power is produced, as presented in Michel Foucault's authority- and power-based discourses, and is considered within the principles of constant surveillance and observability. Within the context of perception and art, the phenomenon of the body is reconsidered through the dichotomy of truth and illusion, particularly in relation to populism, which has gained influence through mass communication tools and social media. In this context, the effects of populism on contemporary art are examined, and its relationship with body representation in contemporary art is conceptually grounded through the notion of post-truth. The position of the body image in consumer culture is comprehensively evaluated through the concept of the objectified and consequently passive body, as discussed in Jean Baudrillard's work The Consumer Society. Within the context of the passive subject, although the representation of the female body in classical and contemporary art has shown historical continuity, this existence generally takes place within a fiction of a submissive and passive body. Body ideals shaped by gender and sexuality discourses prepare the ground for the transformation of the body into a submissive form, shaped by external codes and detached from its own selfhood. In this regard, feminine and masculine forms are often positioned as passive images in the state of merely being "looked at." Throughout the research and development process of the thesis, subjects such as how classical and contemporary art productions are shaped today, the nature and types of ready-mades, relationships with the body, the transformation of the body, and the deconstruction of the body both in form and in immanence are examined on a theoretical and conceptual level.
