Figurative expression practices in contemporary ceramic art

In this study, transforming the object of the figurative forms with ready-made ceramic product forms the basis of the research on the name of contemporary ceramic art. Ceramics is perhaps outnumbered by art and craft items produced in the civilization process. In this sense, it has a radically completed meaning in the memory of the audience. This meaning stems from the status of goods which has been the purpose of the existence of ceramics from the very first moment. The study aims to investigate how figurative practices in contemporary ceramic art, especially in its synthesis with pottery. Within the scope of the research, the subject of contemporary art was discussed with its historical chronology and the change of opinion in the art after 1960 was underlined. The figurative expression has been the only element of shaping as descriptive and simple representation language from primitive to the present in two-dimensional and in three-dimensional forms. Concordantly, its partnership in shaping sculpture and ceramic art at the point of figurative expression continues to be current. Figurative expression is exclusive with a traditional descriptive formatting method and a representation language based on it's past codes rather than reflecting of the body. The phenomenon of figurative expression is explained under the headings in the context of sculpture art and ceramic art, and the subject of figurative expression in contemporary ceramic art is discussed in parallel with the purpose of the thesis. The applications produced within the scope of the "Figurative Expression Practices in Contemporary Ceramic Art" were created in the context of research and shaped in this direction.
