Abstract (EN)
Objective: Theresearch was carried out a descriptive study in order to determine the relationship between the working environment of nurses working at Eskişehir Yunus Emre State Hospital and the barriers of nurses in using physical examination methods. Method: The study was conducted with 279 nurses who work at the Eskişehir Yunus Emre State Hospital in between January2021 and March 2022. Data was collected using a 'Patient Information Form' which consists of 13 questions containing the demographic characteristics of the individuals, 'ObstaclesinthePhysicalExaminationofNurses'and'WorkEnvironmentScale'.Datawasanalysed on SPSS packaged software; findings were listed with number and percentage. Findings:theparticipantswereexaminedaccordingtotheirsociodemographiccharacteristicand average ageof them were in the 20-30 and female (%71,7), %66,7 of nurses' taking part in research have bachelor's degree and about half (%48,7) work in the intensive care unit. Rate of nurses being educated in the process of nursing training about physical examination methods is %67,4 and rate of those who are in service training is %35,5. When the physical examination frequencies of the participants are examined, it is seen that %7,5 never, %22,6 very rarely, %21,1 rarely, %22,9 often and %25,8 very often. Rate of nurses who do not think there is a positive work environment is %53,4. There is a statically significant correlation between nurses work environment and physical examination skills (r:0,337; p<0,01). Conclusion: The work environment has an impact on nurses' physical examination skills. Nurses are of the opinion that they do not have a positive working environment. Nurses with a negative working environment think that physical examination skills are ineffective in patient care. Nurses have shown that time pressures and divisions are reasons why they are unable to use physical exam skills.Nurses are a group that can be supported in creating a positive working environment and using physical examination methods.
