Abstract (EN)

The aim of the research is to determine if there is a significant relationship between the personality traits and work performance of employees in academic work environment where presence of stress is highly considered and to contribute to the literature in accordance with the results obtained. Additionally, demographic variables will also be evaluated in terms of stress, personality traits and performance level. In line with the obtained results, it is expected to contribute to the literature and to enrich the content of the research with some suggestions. The research includes relational screening model. In this model, there are cases shaped with the opinion of the researcher, which means researcher opinion has a direct effect. The instructors in Uludağ University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences cover the population of the research. 100 instructors in the faculty constitute the sample of the study, which was determined by statistical analysis. Demographic Form, Performance Evaluation Inventory for instructors, Five-factor Personality Inventory, and Organizational Stress Scale-short form were used. The data were analyzed by IBM SPSS 21 Windows package program. Normality Test was performed to check the normality distribution of the data. In the analysis done, it was found that the data were not distributed normally and the Mann-Withney U and Kruskal-Wallis tests used in non-parametric tests were utilized. To determine the socio-demographic features of the individuals constituting the sample, frequency analysis and to examine the hypotheses of the research, correlation analysis were used. According to demographic variables, there are no differences in points gained from sub-dimensions of work load, control and social support in Organizational Stress Scale. Five-factor Personality Inventory sub-dimensions have no significant differences except for gender in terms of demographic variables. The points gained from Performance Evaluation Inventory for instructors revealed significant difference only for the age variable. There is a negative significant relationship between sub dimensions work load (Organizational Stress Scale) and agreeableness (Five-factor Personality Inventory). Also, positive significant relationship between sub dimension control and performance was determined accordingly.
