Abstract (EN)
Objective of this study is contribution to literature due to lack of resources in Turkish language, 'engraving' is such a technique which pioneered many art branchs and we translated 'engraving' into Turkish language. We examined the diversity of methods 'carve, cut and grind' which are involved in the description of the 'engraving'. During our literature review we have searched for description and history of glass engraving and also have searched for the effects of technological developments on technique and application forms. The thesis has 4 main part. You can see the description of glass engraving and ancient applications of glass engraving in the first part. Historical development starting from antique ages to nowadays through the industrial revolution is described in the first part also. In the second part instruments and materials are explaned in details which are used in glass engraving techniques. In the third part we discussed the methods which were classified in terms of instruments and materials used during glass engraving applications. Also you can see modern examples of glass engraving in the third part. In the forth part art pieces are shown which are produced with these techniques by researcher individually.
