We aim to reveal the reflection of social criticism and the general perception of society in these novels. In the following section, we gave brief information about the writer’s life and works. By taking social criticism into account, we examined some of the issues in Canan Tan’s five novels such as the interpersonal relationships, social behaviour disorders, living conditions in Istanbul, how the people considered women, superstitions, traditions, others, social pressure and sense of entertainment, the problems seen in the public institutions, public officers and public service, the value given to historical works on cultural issues, the deterioration of Turkish language, the importance given to art and the problems in media under different headings. In these themes, we identified the writer’s opinions and the attitude of the characters in the novels. Keywords: Canan Tan, novel, social criticism, social structure, public administration, cultural problems, media.
