Jalayirids

THESIS JALAYIRDS Bülent YILMAZ Supervisor: Prof.Dr.Enver KONUKÇU Year: 2002 Page:457 Jury : Prof. Dr. Enver KONUKÇU Our subject is fuse history of Jalayir tribe and stale who !had lived spreading into various broinches scatter edly and nomadly among the areas of East Mongolia, the coast of the river Onon and Kerulen and Lake Baikal in VI-VM centuries. Jalayir tribe had been under Chinggis Khan's authority since 603/12%. The Jalayirids had great contributions in Chinggis Khan's establishing a great empire and they helped a great deal immigrating to West Asia with Hulegu Khan in 1253, in the period of the establishment of Ilkhans until the time they were collapsed. After the Ilkhan's collapse, they had set up a new state on the same area as the inheritors of the Ilkhanids. They had reigned approxiamently for a century in Iran, part of Anatolia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and today's Iraq and Armenia. Our study includes 3 main parts. In the first part the period which the Jalayir tribe had until they became a state, the important persons who had grown up in that tribe and the roles those important people played for the Mongolian Emporer and Ilkhanids State are given. Second part starts with Sheikh Hasan the Great who had played an important part for the Ilkhans and who then established the roots of the independent Jalayirids State in 740/1339-1340 It ends with having a closer look to a nearly century-lasted political history of Jalayirids State which was offically collapsed with murder of the last of Jalayir's sultan Hussein b.Alaûddevle in 836/1432-1433. As for the third part, the palaca, the goverment, the army and the culture of Jalayirid's State and the period they had reigned are brought about. Up to present no significant investigation has been done about the Jalayirids State which had reigned in the given areas between Ilkhanids and Timurids States neither Turkey nor Europe. There has been one in Iran; however it lacks in many parts or it's presented to the science world, it's aimed that a period as long as a century that hasn't been revealed enough with the details of Turkish history would be brought into light
