Cemil Kavukçu -human and work-

Cemil Kavukçu, one of the most important writers of Turkish literature after 1980, is known for his storytelling, despite his works in the field of novel, essay, autobiographical narrative and children's literature. Kavukçu, placing his hometown at the center of his art, proves that he has been a productive author with more than thirty works he wrote in different genres since he published his first story book in 1983. Academic researches about Kavukçu, who has made an indelible impression by receiving prizes in literature in different times, are limited to a few master's theses, and all of these theses about Kavukçu have been prepared on the basis of the author's storytelling. These one-way studies, limited to the storytelling of author, necessitated a thorough examination on all of his works. In this study titled "Cemil Kavukçu İnsan ve Eser" ,which is prepared for this reason, all the works written by the author in different fields are examined and his place in Turkish literature is tried to be determined. In the first part of this study, which consists of five chapters, information is given about Cemil Kavukçu's life, art, political and literary views, novel and story writing as well as information about his works written in different genres. In the second chapter, the stories in the seventeen story books written by the author were evaluated in terms of common structure, theme, time, place, characters, language and expression. In the third chapter of the study, the author's three successful novels, Dönüş, Suda Bulanık Oyunlar and Gamba, are examined in terms of name-content relationship, plot, time, place, point of view, narrator, characters and themes. In the fourth part of the thesis, the eight children's novels and a story book writen by the author in the field of children's literature has been examined taking into account the basic criteria of children's literature. Not only the nine works written by the author in this field have been examined in terms of subject, fiction, theme, characters, message, environment, language and expression, but also the works have been evaluated in terms of educational principles. In the fifth part of the thesis, information is given about the two works of the author, written in essay and autobiographic genre.
