Space in the works of Cengiz Dağcı

Cengiz Dagci, who is one of the important representatives of Turkish World literature, is a Crimean Turk writer who wrote works such as poetry, novels, stories, essays, reminiscences and dairies. Dağcı had to leave his homeland after he was taken captive during the Second World War years, and the separation from the mentioned country caused the author to express his lost country in the most beautiful way in almost all his works in the following period and the writer, in fact, struggled to restore his homeland, which he had lost. Likewise, another sensitivity of the author was to reveal the tragedies the nation witnessed. In order to achieve this desire Dağcı benefited from the power of art in his poems, he did not use the space as a decor but as a purpose. The author made it his own duty to tell the lost places of his hometown. The starting point of our thesis is this attitude that prioritizes the space in the author's works. For this purpose, the works of the author were scanned, the spaces encountered were classified according to the frequency of use in the literary works, and from this point of view, in what framework of the meaning the space was used, what does the the spaces mean from the point of view of the heros and the perception of the space in the works of the author were tried to be revealed In the introduction chapter of the study, information about the concept of places in literary works is given. İn the first and second chapters, the life and art of Cengiz Dağcı is mentioned and third chapter is written as headings and subheadings such as "indoor, outdoor places, places of hometown, places of war, places of captivity, places of exile, sacred places, expatriate places, open and closed places, escape places, rebuilding places". In the fourth chapter, the function of place is mentioned and author's perception of space is tried to be put forward. İn the conclusion part, a general evaluation was made about the thesis.
