Environmental security and urbanization

The aim of this study is to provide an understanding of the different aspects of the social reality of urbanization in the same way as the concept of environmental security turns to the dynamics of existence and meaning, to reach answers about whether urbanization has a structure that triggers environmental security problems by trying to understand their connections with each other. In the first part of the study, which consists of three parts, security, environment, environmental security issues development processes were examined, in the second part the concept of urbanization and its relationship with environmental security were discussed, and in the last part the current situation in this regard was discussed with various examples, their connections with each other were examined. At the beginning of the results of this study, it is stated that problems or stresses caused by the environment, combined with problems or tensions caused by society, can have significant negative consequences for the human environmental system as a whole. It has been concluded that there are many connections between the environment, resources, security, deconfliction and cities. It has been concluded that cities, as the most important phenomenon of the century we live in, will be of greater importance in the future regarding environmental security problems than they are today, due to the fact that they are the most valuable social and economic tools that humanity can intervene in. It has been determined that environmental security issues may cause very serious conflicts with the future urbanization rates, especially in hot spots. In addition, it was determined in the study that in a globalized world, environmental degradation and conflicts arising from them need a much deeper and more inclusive understanding of security; and cities, although not alone, it will be possible to evaluate environmental security, environmental causes and drivers of conflict, environmental effects of conflict, environmental recovery and post-conflict peacebuilding in an effective position on a number of issues, including environmental security, environmental causes and drivers of conflict, environmental effects of conflict, environmental recovery and post-conflict peacebuilding. However, in the course of the study, it was found that in addition to urbanization triggering environmental security, environmental security is also in a structure that triggers urbanization, that is, both topics can affect each other according to the subject of the problem.
