Özet (EN)
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of oral administration of ch-OSA after surgical treatment on clinical and radiological parameters of peri-implantitis. Twenty patients with peri-implantitis who were admitted to Çukurova University Faculty of Dentistry Periodontology Clinic were included in the study. Patients were randomly and equally included in one of the study groups; ch-OSA or placebo group. After initial clinical and radiographic measurements (probing pocket depth, bleeding on probing, recession, plaque index and gingival index, OPG,CBCT) , flap operation was performed for the peri-implantitis sites. All patients were instructed to use either placebo (cellulose) capsules or ch-OSA (containing 2 capsules: 2x5 mg ch-OSA form silicone) capsules twice a day for 1 year. Measurements were performed at the 6th (T6) and 12th (T12) months after the initial session (T0). Patients were called for once every 2 months check to assess compliance with the study and oral hygiene, and to administer new food supplements (ch-OSA) or placebo capsules. At the end of the 12-month study period, clinical and radiological measurements were compared statistically in order to evaluate the treated peri-implantitis regions. According to the results of the study, statistically significant improvement was observed in clinical parameters (probing pocket depth, reduction of probing pocket depth between periods, bleeding on probing, plaque index, gingival index) between all evaluation periods (T0-T6, T6-T12, T0-T12) for both groups in intergroup comparisons. Initial pocket depth measurements showed a significant difference between the active and placebo groups at the baseline and this difference continued in T6 and T12 controls. Probing pocket depth changes between T0 and T12 periods were similar in both groups and there was no significant difference between them. In the above mentioned clinical parameters other than probing pocket depth, no statistically significant difference was found between the active and placebo groups. The change in gingival recession between the initial and postoperative (T6, T12) and the change between the periods were statistically significantly lower in the T6 and T12 period in the active group using ch-OSA. The CBCT bone loss levels of patients were statistically similar in the active and placebo group and no significant bone loss or gain was detected in T6 and T12 periods. The results of the study suggest that ch-OSA may have therapeutic potential for peri-implantitis but further studies are needed. Key Words: ch-OSA, orthosilicic asid, peri-implantitis
