Abstract (EN)

The aim of the present research was to identify of volatile compounds in hexane extracts by GC-MS and to determine antibacterial, antifungal activities of C. creticum in 4 different extracts. C.creticum plant was collected from Trakya region in July 2017. After the C. creticum plant was dried, it was extracted with methanol by maceration, and the crude extract was obtained after the methanol was evaporated. The crude extract was then back-extracted with n-hexane, dichloromethane, ethylacetate and n-butanol according to the polarity order. The chemical content of the obtained n-hexane extract was determined by GC-MS. The most abundant volatile compounds in C.creticum were the terpenoids (33.26%) and the hydrocarbons (41.11%). GC-MS analysis of C.creticum n-hexane extract indicated the presence of various pharmaceutically important chemical compounds with different chemical structure in the extract. In addition, antimicrobial and antifungal activity were investigated for the four extracts obtained. In general, the results of the activity of the methanol extract of C.creticum, antifungal and antimicrobial activity were found to be higher than the other extracts. With this thesis study, antifungal and antibacterial activities of the volatile compounds of n-hexane extract of C.creticum were presented for the first time in the literature.
