Abstract (EN)
In today's production world, it is of great importance that the parts work functionally without losing their properties, as well as producing parts. In the automotive and defense industries, coating and surface improvement processes are applied to the parts to protect them from external factors. Zinc-nickel coatings, in particular, are protective coating materials used in a wide range of industrial applications. Issues such as the quality and durability of these coatings and hydrogen embrittlement occurring during coating are of great importance in addressing engineering problems. Hydrogen embrittlement is a problem that affects the durability of coatings and can lead to cracking of critical components. This thesis presents the studies carried out to investigate the phenomenon of hydrogen embrittlement in zinc-nickel coatings and to optimize the coating parameters. Coating parameters of bolts, which are one of the most commonly used fasteners in armored vehicles, especially in terms of the number of parts, vary depending on the company supplied, as subcontractors do not meet a standard. Although coating quality is measured in tests such as the salt fog test, tests for hydrogen embrittlement that occur over time are not comprehensive. Within the scope of this thesis, the samples coated with various coating parameters were subjected to torque testing in accordance with the EN ISO 15330 standard, and the parameters such as low current density, temperature, coating time, bath chemicals were changed and the cracks caused by hydrogen embrittlement were examined in the microstructure as a result of the torque test performed according to the standard content of the coated parts. resulted in finding the most suitable parameters.
