Abstract (EN)

There are a lot of 'dye plants' which contais painting materials that allow us to paint in Turkey. The blue color is derived from two major sources: Dyer's woad Indigofera tinctoria and indigo plant İsatis tinctoria L. Blue almondsare widely produced in Mardin region, a remarkable source of income and it attracts the attention of local and foreign tourists. Manufacturers use roots of Lahore tree to color these almond candies which are called ghots, sugarless. In our research we detected this is indigo dye, synthetically produced and imported from abroad on the contrary of manufacturer's iddaa. This dye is generally used in the textiles but has only seen in produced blue almond candies as food dye. Therefore, the aim of this study is to show coloring almond candies can be used to natural I. tinctoria L. that whether it has a cytotoxic effect instead of using synthetic Dyer's woad which used in food colouring. For this purpose, cytotoxicity was investigated by isatis tinctoria cell celture method. MTT vitality test was applied. While I. tinctoria L. leaf extract H1299 cells did not show cytotoxic effect on the viability ratio, in increased cell proliferation. On the HUVEC cells it made fluctuations and showed a partial cytotoxic effect I. tinctoria L. leaf extrach was found to be non-cytotoxic on the H1299 line and on HUVEC cells.
