Abstract (EN)

The process of individuals learning and adopting social values, norms, status and roles is called socialization. Many types of lifelong socialization have been reported. The effects of the primary socialization period, which coincides with childhood, continue throughout the rest of life. Cartoons produced by many domestic and foreign companies are intensively watched during childhood and have a great impact on children's socialization processes. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of socialization types on value transmission in the context of the scenario structure based on the preparation of cartoon content. In our study, "Z Team" and "Erdem" cartoons broadcasted on TRT Çocuk channel, which broadcasts in Turkey and produces local content in line with certain principles, and "Teen Titans Go" and "Adventure Time" cartoons broadcasted on Cartoon Network channel, which also broadcasts in Turkey and broadcasts in line with its own different principles, were analyzed comparatively. The specific parameters of the plot and the rules of character design, which are the basic elements of the script, have been classified, and the characteristics of each cartoon in the context of this classification have been transformed into quantitative data and presented in tables. All data were analyzed, compared and interpreted. The effectiveness of the contents prepared by TV channels in line with the values they have determined in order to transfer these values to children, the audience, was evaluated through their effects on socialization. Thus, the types of socialization through which scenario elements interact with the audience and the effect of this on the transfer of values based on the messages carried by the visual content were discussed. The findings of the study showed that the script structures of domestic and foreign cartoons prepared with different principles are different from each other. It was observed that the productions aimed at transferring values contain deficiencies in the basic elements of the script. Thus, it was concluded that cartoons that have less impact on the audience will have less impact on children's socialization processes. Especially in religious content, since the main goal is value transfer, it is inferred that giving up the basic principles of the script with this concern will reduce the impact of the content on religious socialization processes.
