Abstract (EN)
This study which is especially focusing on the cloths of heroes and superheroes aim to understand the dressed cultural demonstrations as a mean of expression. The subject is not only about narrowing its focus on comics and costumes in them, also is about the relations of disciplines and elements that referenced to identification process. Graphic novels bring together the parts of fashion related things such as fabrics, colors, cuts and tools of graphic design like symbols, pattern and texture. This fusion especially is very obvious/seen in cinema adaptations. This study is made of three parts: First part is on the short history of graphic novels, development process, the evolution of graphic novel history in different geographical parts of the World and the development in Turkey. Second part analyses heroism and heroes in graphic novel through cultural identity phenomenon. Third part in its sub part, "costume as an identified garment" examines the appearance of codes used in cultural identity construction on cloths. And is corroborated with the example of Hatice Gökçe's project, called "The Leather Age: Anatolia ∞" Keywords: comics, cultural identity, superheroes, costume, design
