Sosyodemografic characteristic of pediatric neurologic patients

Abstract (EN)

Pediatric neurologic diseases contain a wide diseases group then adults. Typical neurologic diseases are epilepsi, psychomotor retardation, serebral palsy and headache.In this study we research sociodemografic features of 750 patients who get the pediatric neurology poliklinic at Dicle University between january 2010 and june 2010.We studied age, sex, disease that effect the children and socio-culturel features and economic situations of the families and the number of children they have.We researched 750 neurologic patients. %57.9 of them were male and %42.1 were female.The number of epileptic patients was higher than the others. Health insurance of families was mostly Green Card and they live in urban.In this study the prevelance of consanguineous marriages was %54 and most of them were first cousin marriage.According to the result of this study; %52 of mothers were illiterate and live in rural area. %52.3 of women were adolescent marriage. The adolescent marriage was common among the first degree relatives. Adolescent marriage gets down when the education levels up.Mortality of children under age 5 was %22 in our study group and was higher in first cousin marriage group.In this study also we discussed the consanguineous marriages and factors that effect this marriages.
