Özet (EN)

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) refers to a condition related to irreversible kidney injury, which may also progress to end-stage kidney failure (ESRD). In this study, we aimed to measure the parameters of human chitinase-3-like Protein 1 (YKL-40), oxidant/antioxidant status and thiol-disulfide homeostasis in the serum of childhood chronic kidney patients and to investigate whether there is a relationship between the severity of the disease. 25 peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients, 10 hemodialysis (HD) patients and 25 compensated chronic kidney patients (CKD) and 20 healthy individuals were included in the study as control group. Creatinine, GFR, total oxidant status (TOS), total antioxidant status (TAS), oxidative stress index (OSI), Native thiol (Nthiol), total thiol (Thiol), Disulfide, Disulfide/Nthiol, Disulfide/Thiol, Nthiol/Thiol and YKL-40 values were found to be statistically significantly higher compared to the control group, while Nthiol, Thiol, Disulfide and YKL-40 levels were found to be significantly lower (p <0.05). In addition, significant negative and positive correlations were determined between the parameters in each group. Our results suggest that the oxidant status increases in patient groups and it will be beneficial to add antioxidant substances in addition to the treatment.
