The mediator role of emotion regulation difficulty in the relationship of childhood trauma with psychological well-being

Childhood traumas have emerged all over the world throughout human history, but have become a phenomenon that has increased and been noticed with the increase in communication in the last 20 years. Therefore, understanding the variables affected and affected by childhood traumas is one of the most important steps to be taken for its solution. For this reason, the mediating role of difficulty in emotion regulation in the relationship between childhood traumas and psychological well-being was examined. The sample group of the research was reached via Google forms on the live broadcast platform. Data from 705 participants were included in the analyses. Correlation analysis was performed to examine the relationship between childhood traumatic experience levels, psychological well-being levels, and difficulty in emotion regulation levels. It was found that the three variables had a significant relationship with each other (p<.01). Then, Process Hayes Model 4 analysis was performed to test the main hypothesis of the research. As a result of the analysis, it was found that difficulty in emotion regulation has a moderate partial mediating role in the relationship between childhood traumatic experiences and psychological well-being. Thoughts on the relationship between sociodemographic information and the variables of the study, limitations of the study and suggestions were included in the discussion section.
