Abstract (EN)
The aim of our study is to examine the relationship between perceived parental behavior in childhood and individuals' level of self-confidence and dating violence attitudes in adulthood. The study was conducted between June 30, 2022 and December 2022 using Google forms. Our population was defined as male and female individuals who had at least one romantic relationship. The sample of our study consists of a total of 423 male and female participants between the ages of 18 and 45 living in Turkey who have had at least one romantic relationship. A questionnaire form is included in our study. The questionnaire forms to be used include "demographic information form", "parental attitude scale", "dating violence attitude scale", "self-confidence scale". İn the relationship between parental attitude and self- confidence level and attitude towards dating violence, it was aimed to learn how parental attitude and self-confidence level affect the attitude towards dating violence in adulthood. When this relationship is examined, the independent variable of the study is considered as parental attitude and self-confidence level, and the dependent variable is considered as attitude towards dating violence. In addition to descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, Kurskal Wallis test, Mann Whitney u test and regression analysis were used in the analysis of the data obtained from the "parental attitude scale" and "dating violence attitude scale" and "self- confidence scale" in order to answer the purpose and sub-objectives of the research. In addition, how gender affects attitudes towards dating violence was examined. In this context, our independent variable was determined as gender and our dependent variable as dating violence attitude. Since the distribution of the data was not normal, Spearman Correlation was applied as a correlation test. While evaluating the data; the aforementioned scales were analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 program. In addition, Cronbach Alpha test was applied to analyze the validity and reliability of the survey questions. According to the results of the analysis, it was concluded that men are more prone to dating violence than women, and that dating violence decreases as the level of education increases. In addition, when the correlation value results were analyzed, it was concluded that the results of the Self-Confidence scale obtained more significant results in democratic families than in other family attitudes.
