Özet (EN)
Tonsillectomy surgery is the most common surgeon in ear, nose and throat clinics, especially in childhood. Although it is a frequent surgery, it causes generalized anxiety in children and families who are planned for surgery. Therefore, the necessity, risks, positive and negative aspects of the operation should be explained to the patient and his family in a good way. One of the post-operative expectations is the increase in the child's development. Many previous studies in the literature have included results supporting this development. Only tonsillectomy was performed in this study. Expected post-operative improvement was assessed by the effects of other patient-related variables such as tonsil size. Düzce Medical Faculty Hospital, Between December 2015 and June 2016, 45 patients with tonsillar hypertrophy and recurrent chronic tonsillitis were included in the study at the KBB clinic. After recording the anamnesis and findings of all patients, pre-operative height and weight were recorded. The weight and volume of tonsils removed during surgery were measured. At the postoperative 6th month, the patients were called for control and their height and weight were measured and recorded. Patients' height and weight gains were calculated according to the percentage increase. Variables such as age, sex, indications, tonsillar grade, tonsil volume, tonsil weight were grouped and the effect on height and weight development was compared.
