The effect of multimedia materials presentation on the succes of 6th class students' mathematics lesson

The purpose of this thesis is to reveal the effects of multimedia materials application on success of the students who study maths in 6th class at primary school. According to this reason, the graoup which has studied lessons with the presentation of multimedia materials by using experimental technique was compared to the other group in which this technique hasn?t been applied to.The experimental groups of the thesis were chosen among the students in the 6th class of Aziziye Primary School in Düzce in 2006-2007 education term. As a result of assignment which was determined with a random technique, 6-A class was accepted as a experimental group and 6-B class as a control group. The experimental and control group totally consisted of 40 studentsIn this study, teaching programme realized by using the presentation of multimedia materials, was put into practise while the students were studying proportion theory in mathematics.while the test group was studying on this subject, the mathematics software Bilden; including the presentations of multimedia materials for the 6th class was applied. Contrary to this, the presentations of multimedia materials weren?t used in the control group although the same subject was being studied with a similar method.The scores of pre-test and the last test of those student who studied with the presentations of multimedia materials and of those who din?t study with this technique,were estimated. T-test on the SPSS 11.5 programme was used in analyzing datas. No significant diversities were found in the pre-test scores of those two groups. But the scores of the last test used after the study were found meaningful at 0.05 stage. The findings of the thesis revealed that the application of multimedia materials created a positive effect on the succes of students when compared to conventional teaching method.
