A comparative overview of migration policies: Experiences of Germany and Türkiye

Immigration and migration have been one of the issues that many countries attach importance to from past to present.The passage of time and the change in the subject or issues experienced or caused have not caused migration and migration to lose their meaning, on the contrary, they have caused it to come to the agenda again in different shapes and forms. The Syrian Civil War, which started in 2011, and its effects are one of the most current examples of this situation. Syrians who had to leave their country due to the civil war took refuge in different countries of the world with different statuses. Although this interaction was in terms of cultural and social relations within the framework of abstract concepts, it was also in terms of housing and workplace within the framework of concrete concepts. The aim of this study is to reveal the migration policies of Turkey and Germany and to compare the last five-year period in terms of Syrians. The main hypothesis of the research is; While refugees provide access to housing, labor force and other needs within the framework of the legal responsibility of local governments and the voluntariness of non-governmental organizations in Germany; In Turkey, refugees meet these needs with the initiative of local governments and the voluntary services of non-governmental organizations. Within the scope of the research, firstly, the immigration policies of Türkiye and Germany were compared on a national scale. Keywords: Migration, Türkiye, Politics, Germany
