Abstract (EN)
In this study, geochemical data of mineralization were investigated at macro and micro dimensions using diamond drill core samples, elevation base (RL) maps, mine slope maps and digital ore model data of Çoraklıktepe Gold Mine located in Burhaniye district of Balikesir province. Study is detailed with samples of gold and silver epithermal low sulphidation type quartz veins on the southern edge of Edremit Graben in Western Anatolia. In study area andesitic and dacitic volcanics of the volcanic facies of the region overlays unconformably metamorphic base belonging to Karakaya Complex. The quartz veins observed in the Çoraklıktepe Project would be considered to be one of the partly extension of observed vein system in the NE directing at previously operated Küçükdere Gold Mine, on elongating KDD trends. On regional scale, in consequence of the faulting and their thrust on the vein system, veins are interrupted and occurs in forms of lenses. Considering both two systems together in a large scale points out perspective to the instance of a horse-tail structure idea. Silicic, argillic, propylitic alterations of typical low sulphidation epithermal mineralizations apparently encircling vein systems can be observed at macro level with hand specimens and can be easily identified in rock surfaces.
