Abstract (EN)

Microalbuminuria is often used to diagnose early diabetic nephropathy. In chronic kidney disease, parathyroid hormone is often elevated and is thought to be a predictive indicator. This study aimed to look at any possible relationships between UACR and serum PTH in subjects with type 2 diabetes. The study included 150 randomly selected participants in 2022. They were divided equally into three groups; Those with type 2 diabetes and microalbuminuria, those with diabetes mellitus but not microalbuminuria and the third group were the control group without either condition. Serum PTH and UACR were measured and analyzed statistically in the three groups. Results: The results of the current study showed that there was no significant difference in the main variables between the studied group. The results of the average concentration of PTH in the serum between the studied groups did not show a significant difference. There was a very weak correlation between ACR levels and serum PTH levels in all groups studied. Conclusion: (1) Serum PTH appears to be an unsuitable surrogate for ACR in the early detection of diabetic nephropathy. (2) All studied variables including CBC, renal function, etc. are of no clinical utility in early diagnosis of diabetic nephropathy
