Özet (EN)
When the kidneys are unable to function properly, a medical disease known as renal failure (RF) occurs. The goal of this study was to assess RF patients' transferrin, hepcidin, ferritin, iron, and total iron binding capacity to better understand the condition's link to anemia. There was a total of 100 people with RF disease and 50 healthy controls of the same age who took part in the study. Patients with RF exhibited considerably higher levels of both urea and creatinine than controls. Ferritin and hepcidin levels in RF patients were significantly higher than in a control group. Transferrin levels between RF patients and controls, however, did not differ in a manner that was statistically significant. In RF patients, both the total and the transferrin-specific iron-binding capacities are much lower than in healthy controls. Patients with RF also had considerably lower hemoglobin levels than controls. Overall, people exposed to RF should be closely monitored to prevent serious health complications including anemia. Also, the high level of hepcidin indicated serious inflammatory events in RF patients.
