The effect of secondary traumatic stress level of healthcare personal care of COVID-19 patients on burnout and left intention

The COVID-19 pandemic process has caused different psychosocial problems such as secondary traumatic stress and burnout in healthcare workers. The aim of this research, which was carried out in descriptive and relationship-seeking design, is to examine the effect of secondary traumatic stress level of healthcare personnel caring for COVID-19 patients on burnout and intention to leave. The universe of the research consists of a training and research hospital and health personnel working in a state hospital, providing care and treatment to a patient with a diagnosis of COVID-19. By not choosing the sampling method in the study, it was aimed to reach the entire population and 216 health personnel who agreed to participate in the study were reached. Personal Information Form, Secondary Traumatic Stress Level Scale, Burnout Scale and Intention to Leave Scale were used to collect the data of the study. Pearson Correlation test and Simple Linear Regression analysis were used to evaluate the data and determine the relationship and effect between the variables. As a result of the research, the findings obtained; Secondary Traumatic Stress level (50.58±16.30), secondary traumatic stress sub-dimensions, Emotional Neglect (13.41±5.00), Avoidance (21.31±6.59), Arousal (15.85±5) .56); Emotional exhaustion (29.50±8.81), Depersonalization (10.09±4.36), Low Personal Achievement (29.62±4.64) and Intention to Leave Work (15.53±) 3.34). As a result of the research, it was determined that the perception of arousal positively affected the perception of emotional exhaustion and the perception of Secondary Traumatic Stress positively affected the perception of depersonalization.
