Examining the reflections of the COVID-19 process on physical education and sports lesson

The aim of the research is to determine the problems faced by physical education and sports teachers working in private and public schools in distance education carried out during the Covid-19 epidemic and the methods of overcoming these problems. Phenomenology design, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the research. The data collection tool consists of two parts. In the first part, there is the Personal Information Form, which includes questions about the gender of the teachers, their teaching experience and at what level they teach. In the second part of the data collection tool, there are interview questions. The data of the study were collected with the help of a semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher. Six questions are included in the form. The universe of the research; While creating 165 physical education and sports teachers working under the Rize Provincial Directorate of National Education in 2020-2021; The sample of the research consists of a total of 31 volunteer physical education and sports teachers working within the Rize Provincial Directorate of National Education and selected by simple random method. Based on the answers given by the physical education and sports teachers participating in the research to the questions, it was determined that the teachers watched the distance education videos made by the Ministry of National Education about the physical education and sports branch, while some teachers found these videos successful, but there were also Physical Education and Sports Teachers who watched and found them unsatisfied-insufficient. Within the scope of the distance education process, teachers; They stated that they had problems in terms of students, teachers, sports and technology. During this process, the teachers stated that they communicated with the students through tools such as Whatsapp, Zoom, EBA TV and Telephone, and that they provided the communication coordination with the classroom teacher. It has been observed that the teachers stated the effect on the education process carried out with distance education as positive and negative effects. It was determined that they performed oral presentations, visual presentations and different activities in order to increase the interest in physical education and sports lessons. In addition, it was seen that the teachers evaluated the difficulties experienced in distance education in two different ways and stated them as problems and solutions.
