Abstract (EN)

In this study, the relationship between Covid-19 and generalized anxiety was examined in terms of variables. It has been defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a COVID-19 pandemic, which has spread rapidly since December 2019. Covid-19 is a disease with high contagiousness and mortality rate, which has caused various negativities in the fields of economy, security and health around the world. The study group of the research consists of 365 students over the age of 18 who are studying at Istanbul Gelişim University, who have not been diagnosed with COVID-19. The questionnaire form applied as a data collection tool via Google Form consists of Socio-demographic Information Form, Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 Scale, Beck Anxiety Inventory, Beck Depression Inventory, and Ucla Loneliness Scale. Analysis of the data was analyzed with the help of SPSS 25.0 statistical package program. Descriptive statistics in data analysis, Independent Samples T-Test, Pearson Correlation Test, Multiple Linear Regression Analysis; Stepwise Method, One Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was applied. The significance value for statistical analyzes was accepted as p <0.05. As a result of the study, the relationship between COVID-19 and generalized anxiety disorder was examined in terms of variables, and it was found that the variables of gender, age, marital status, education level, source of information about COVID-19 and the reason for going out in the pandemic were not effective on generalized anxiety disorder. It was determined that the other variables of the study caused an increase in anxiety and other mental problems in individuals, therefore the COVID-19 epidemic may have an effect on the generalized anxiety disorder levels of individuals.
