The effect of solution-focused brief approach based psychoeducation program on emotional awareness levels of high school students

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of a psychoeducation program based on solution-focused brief therapy approach on high school students' emotional awareness levels. It was aimed to increase the emotional awareness levels of high school students with the psychoeducation program based on solution-focused brief therapy approach. For this purpose, the effectiveness of the emotional awareness psychoeducation program applied to high school students was examined. The experimental model with pretest-posttest control group was used in the study. The participants of the study were 11th grade students studying at Mustafa Ayten Aydın Anatolian High School in the Döşemealtı district of Antalya province in the 2022-2023 academic year. In the study, Emotional Awareness Level Scale (EALS) was used as a data collection tool to determine the emotional awareness levels of the participants. Among the participants who scored average or below on the scale, 12 participants were randomly assigned to the experimental group and 12 participants were assigned to the control group. A 6-week emotional awareness psychoeducation program was applied to the experimental group, while no study was conducted in the control group. "Mann Whitney-U Test" and "Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test" were used to analyze the data. As a result of the findings, it was concluded that the psychoeducation program based on solution-focused brief therapy approach was effective in increasing the emotional awareness levels of high school students. The results of the test conducted 3 weeks after the application.
