The Sentiments of Çukurova University Students On Sports And The Sports Participation - Socialization Relationship This study examines the effects of sports to the progression, education and interaction of individuals by considering the communal dimensions of sports. Thus, it is intented to determine the sentiments of university students on sports and the sports participation - socialization relationship. The research population consists of students enrolled in Çukurova University. The population percentages ragarding the department enrolled, type of education and gender are calculated and adapted to the 384 sampled students ascertained by Bayesian model. Thus a consistent representation of the population is achieved. Descriptive statistics is employed for summarizing data gathered through questionnaires. The validity of the hypotetical constructs, designed to determine the effects of sports in the socialization process, is examined by applying appropriate statistical tests. Results indicate that even the family encouragement is lacking, involvement level regarding the sport activities is immense. Besides, the perception of sports as a socialization device varies among genders. As an overall consequence, it is disclosed that students are cognisant of the positive effects of sports to the socialization, yet the majority does not participate in sports for that purpose.
