Abstract (EN)

Bayburt is a province of Turkey located in the Northeast Anatolia, small in terms of area and population but the province has a great historical past. Bayburt town, which has been seized by various empires, states and principalities throughout history and witnessed many wars, destruction and changes over its territory, since the 16th century it has been under Ottoman rule. Bayburt, was occupied by Tsarist Russia during the Ottoman-Russian War of 1828-1829 and World War I, 1914-1918, and its social, economic prosperity and cultural activities were totally destroyed during the occupation, especially during the First World War. During the period of National Movement, Bayburt town could not find a recovery opportunity, but it entered into an important development process in the Republican era. In this study, we tried to analyse and examine the historical province (Kaza) of Bayburt in-between 1923 and 1950. This study isn't an academically meaningul work of the period when CHP, the political structure of the founder of the Republic of Turkey, or of the person who did the revolution and was the leader of the National Movement. The aim of the study we have dealt with is to consider the town history research and to display with careful attention the scientific progress and development of Bayburt in the administrative, political, socio-cultural, population, education, and economic areas.
