Abstract (EN)

After the revolution of 1960, a two-assembly management system was passed in Turkey between 1961-1980. During this period, along side at the TBMM (Turkey Great Nation Assabbly) Parlament a second assambly house (bicameral ism) under the name of Republican Senate established. Republican Senate was also known as ''Elites Assambly'' and member were called Senators. Within the Republican Senate six senators were representatives of Gaziantep province. They were Mehmet Zeki İslam, Nizamettin Özgül, Salih Tanyeri, İbrahim Tevfik Kutlar, Selahattin Çolakoğlu and Mehmet Kılıç. Senators from Gaziantep had undertalen important duties and represented the province widely in parliament ar well as in Republican Senate. The Senators, who had been working intensively on Gaziantep and also the country affairs, focused on the economic and educational aspects of the province and their activities in this direction.
