Abstract (EN)

Nurse-patient interaction provides positive results such as meeting the needs of the patient, increasing the quality of treatment and care of patients, as well as reducing the length of hospital stay, increasing physiological and mental well-being, and accelerating recovery. This study was conducted as a descriptive study to determine the care-oriented nurse-patient interaction in internal clinics. The population of the descriptive study consisted of 748 nurses hospitalized and 172 nurses working in internal clinics at SBU Adana City Training and Research Hospital between October 1, 2021, and March 1, 2022. 114 nurses and 235 patients who agreed to participate in the study were included in the study. "Patient Information Form", "Nurse Information Form" and "Care-Oriented Nurse-Patient Interaction Scale (BOHIÖ) - Short Form" were used to collect data. The average scores obtained by nurses from the Care-Oriented Nurse Patient Interaction Scale are 101.33±11.79 points, 93.83±14.79, 92.42±15.5 points in the dimensions of importance, adequacy, and feasibility, respectively. The average scores obtained by the patients from the Care-Oriented Nurse-Patient Interaction Scale are 105.0±12.00, 105.69±12.03, 107.08±11.75 in the dimensions of importance, frequency, and satisfaction, respectively. There was no statistically significant relationship between the importance, adequacy, and applicability sub-dimensions of BOHHE (Nurse version) and the importance, frequency, and satisfaction sub-dimensions of BOHHE (Patient version) (p˃0.05). When evaluated according to the scores of nurses regarding care-oriented nurse-patient interaction, it was concluded that their attitudes and behaviors regarding the importance, adequacy and applicability sub-dimensions were positive, and the patients evaluated the nurses' attitudes and behaviors regarding the importance, frequency, and satisfaction sub-dimensions positively.
